Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) is made up of two of London's best known teaching hospitals and employs over 13,000 staff and has over 2 million patient contacts a year. Our annual turnover is now £1.2 billion.

The Evelina London Children's Hospital is a purpose-built Children's hospital opened in 2005, bringing together existing Children's services at St Thomas' and Guy's Hospitals onto one site. Evelina London Children's Healthcare (ELCH) comprises three directorates of GSTT and, along with Women's Services, functions as a Strategic Business Unit under the umbrella of GSTT. This enables ELCH to provide dedicated children's services and develop its own distinct identity whilst enjoying the support and shared assets of a very large, well-resourced trust. As part of King's Health Partners, ELCH is now one of the UK's Academic Health Sciences Centres, aiming to bring together world class teaching, research and clinical services.

Paediatric General Surgery is a key service for the Evelina Children's Hospital and beyond. The department offers a wide range of outpatient services across the South East, in particular at Lewisham Hospital and Darent Valley, where the surgical team also perform day case surgery. There are outreach outpatient clinics at a number of affiliated DGHs which the successful applicant would be expected to undertake.
