We have a vacancy for 2 Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic community mental health team, based at Canada House Gillingham. We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with a core mental health occupational therapy background with demonstrable skills and interest in working with service users who have complex mental health needs. You must have experience of working with mental health service users as a qualified practitioner. We are looking for a practitioner with good communication and liaison skills who is forward thinking and enthusiastic regarding innovative ways of working.
We are particularly interested in applicants who can have a keen interest in developing specialist skills in the areas of assessment, CBT, Psychosocial Interventions, Use of the Recovery Model, and care of those with Personality Disorder. Potential post-holders should be able to demonstrate a capacity for creative and flexible working, and a willingness to work in a diverse, challenging and multi-agency environment.
The existing multi-disciplinary team is comprised of Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Consultant Psychiatrists, Support Workers, Admin and Clerical workers. We provide a range of secondary mental health interventions within a recovery model that includes specialist individual work, and group-work therapy. We adopt a strong multi-disciplinary approach to ensure an effective response to meet the needs of our service users.
A commitment to continued professional development is essential. We offer ongoing clinical and professional supervision and access to relevant courses to support you in developing your career. You will be responsible for appraisal, development and a mentorship programme will be offered where indicated.
