Job Description

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC), is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with a turnover of nearly £1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 12,600 staff based across 5 main sites in South East London and Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley, Orpington Hospital, and some services at Beckenham Beacon and Queen Mary’s Sidcup.

The Trust is recognised internationally for its work in liver disease and transplantation, neurosciences, cardiac, haemato-oncology, fetal medicine, stroke, major trauma, and Emergency Department.

Due to a recent successful uplift in our staffing and service restructure, we are delighted to have a newly developed substantive post on the Frank Cooksey Rehabilitation Unit (FCRU), which is part of the King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, based in Orpington Hospital.

This post provides highly specialist neuropsychological assessment, diagnosis, rehabilitation recommendations in addition to providing supervision to other Clinical Psychologists within the service.

It requires autonomous professional responsibility for making decisions about service development and implementation, whilst interfacing with the consultant lead for neuropsychological rehabilitation. There is an emphasis on multidisciplinary teamwork and working at different levels with staff and relatives of patients.

There are strong links with the King’s College Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IOPPN) and the post forms part of a large group of clinical / academic neuropsychologists.

Applicants must have, or be eligible for, chartered clinical psychology status, holding a post-graduate qualification in clinical psychology as approved by the British Psychological Society and must be registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). They should also hold the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN).
