Biomedical Scientist

Our pathology team at Exeter currently have an opportunity for a 9 month fixed term HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist in blood sciences. Continue your journey with us whilst we'll support you to be your best.

This role at the Exeter Pathology Hub has variety, as the Exeter laboratory also serves Nuffield hospitals at Plymouth and Taunton and is part of our national network of twelve hub laboratories. Our highly motivated and talented Pathology team will really appreciate the high quality support you provide.

The opportunity:
This is an ideal opportunity if you've got experience of working in a blood sciences or healthcare environment. We'll expect you to demonstrate excellent customer service, be comfortable using varied IT applications as well as technical skills.

The person
To succeed as a: Biomedical Scientist you will have;

- Relevant laboratory experience in multi-disciplinary biomedical science.
- Good working knowledge of different analytical equipment in a range of multi-disciplinary techniques.
- Great communication and team player skills.
- The ability to understand how vital it is to maintain good customer relationships and provide high levels of service in a modern pathology laboratory.

You will have at least three years post registration experience, ideally with specialist portfolio in blood sciences, experience with a range of analysers and the rigors of a UKAS accredited environment .

Key information about the role.

This fixed term, full time role (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, 37.5hrs/week) and is for 9 months working within blood sciences and specimen reception of the Exeter Nuffield Pathology Hub.

Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital

The Exeter Nuffield hospital is based next to the RD&E hospital in Wonford, Exeter. The hospital has 2 theatres, as well as a hybrid cardiac catheter laboratory/theatre and an Endoscopsy suite. There are two ward areas; an inpatient area with 21 beds and a day-case ward with 12 beds. We also have a busy outpatient department, pharmacy, physiotherapy and radiology department including an MRI scanner. We specialise in elective orthopaedic and spinal surgery, cardiology including invasive procedures, general surgery, plastics and cosmetic surgery, ENT and gynaecology. The Hospital has a MAKO robot that undertakes some of the joint replacement surgery which we have become well known for in this field of surgery. We are proud to have a team of friendly and motivated staff who are committed to providing safe, compassionate and high quality services to its patients.

Our most recent CQC inspection was undertaken in the summer of 2016 and we were very proud to be rated as GOOD.
