Job Description

Our Trust

Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) NHS Foundation Trust comprises Addenbrooke's Hospital and the Rosie Hospital in Cambridge. With over 10000 staff and over 1100 beds the priorities of the Trust focus on a quality service which is all about people - patients, staff and partners. Recognised as providing 'outstanding' care to our patients and rated 'Good' overall by the Care Quality Commissioner, is testament to the skill and dedication of the people who work here. CUH's values - Together- safe, kind, excellent - are at the heart of patient care, defining the way all staff work and behave. The Trust provides accessible high-quality healthcare for the local people of Cambridge, together with specialist services, dealing with rare or complex conditions for a regional, national and international population.

Following investment we are enhancing and expanding our clinical service across 7 days and have developed several new posts. We are looking for enthusiastic pharmacists to join our team of rotational clinical pharmacists. The Department of Pharmacy at CUH is ambitious and forward thinking, supporting the development of electronic solutions to enhance patient care.

Our Band 7 Pharmacists provide a predominantly ward based service. You will participate in a rotational clinical programme which currently includes a wide range of medical and surgical specialities, solid organ transplant, critical care, neurosciences, emergency medicine, infectious disease and paediatrics. Within each rotation there are unique opportunities for development and you will become a fully integrated member of the multidisciplinary team.

When working at weekends you will be ward based working in areas such as critical care or in the emergency department. This service helps to prompt the attainment of national medicines reconciliation standards and ensures follow up on the most unwell patients in the hospital, putting the patient at the heart of what we do.

As a priority, the department is keen to develop all eligible pharmacists as independent prescribers, and our Education and Training team provides support for RPS Faculty portfolio development. A well-established clinical pharmacy forum is in place, aimed specifically at our Band 7 Pharmacists.

You will also have the opportunity to develop your leadership and management skills by taking on the role of Chief Rotational Band 7 Pharmacist. There will be opportunities to become a tutor for pre-registration trainees / clinical pharmacy diploma students.

This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS clearance and as a result, you will be required to pay the associated fee of £40.00. This fee will be deducted from your second month's salary.

Please note that with regards to the Fixed Term/Secondment vacancies, internal applicants on permanent contracts can only apply for this post as a secondment and must have the approval of your current line manager before applying.

The closing date for this vacancy is 28 January 2020

Interviews will be held week commencing 6 February 2020

Benefits to you

We offer development opportunities and a wide range of benefits including on-site leisure facilities, shopping concourse, day nurseries and access to a great transport system with easy access to airports and rail travel.
