Job Description

Occupational Therapist - Mental Health  

Up to £28,633  

South East London  


Compass Associates are working closely with a valued client to find an Occupational Therapist to work across two of their services in the South East London region. One site is a small, step-down, low support unit for vulnerable people with mental health needs, the other a slightly larger residential unit for males with offending histories and mental health needs. Ideally, our client is seeking a passionate professional who has a keen interest in mental health and is looking to develop their assessment skills. This role is open to applications from both newly qualified Occupational Therapists and those with experience.  


The Role  

Our client is seeking a professional who is passionate about helping people attain their independence and appreciates the significance of recovery through various approaches and occupational therapy interventions/models. You will be required to demonstrate flexibility and good engagement skills when helping residents with various complex mental health needs, therefore an ability to motivate others will be required.  


You will be required to work with various other professionals within this role, including Dual Diagnosis Workers, Recovery Workers, Support Workers and other clinical staff, meaning the ability to develop strong relationships within a team is vital. You will be working with others to deliver therapeutic activities and workshops, meaning you'll be responsible for bringing an OT focus to the program offered. This role requires a passion and drive to help support people with mental health needs develop their life skills and better understand conditions in mental health. You must hold the legal right to work in the UK and you must have a valid HCPC registration.  


The Criteria  

** BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification  

** Relevant experience as an Occupational Therapist, though newly qualified OTs will be considered  

** Relevant experience supporting people with various complex mental health needs  

** Adaptable, flexible, and organised with workload management  

** HCPC registration and an enhanced DBS check  


The Location  

Both services are deemed commutable from Peckham, Camberwell, Brixton, Vauxhall, Bexleyheath and Blackheath.
