We are currently looking to recruit motivated, enthusiastic and experienced AfC-equivalent band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientists and AfC-equivalent band 5 Biomedical Scientists to join our busy Clinical Biochemistry section in the Blood Sciences department based at Bedford Hospital.

The Clinical Biochemistry laboratory is a dynamic, progressive department providing an expert automated analytical service to Bedford hospital NHS trust. The 24/7 service is delivered using Roche Cobas instrumentation and there will be opportunity to rotate through the specialist areas of the laboratory which includes porphyrins assessment and HbA1c assay by HPLC and protein electrophoresis by gel electrophoresis.

How you will qualify:

For the Band 6 BMS role we are looking for experienced scientists who have achieved their specialist portfolio in a Clinical Biochemistry laboratory. We would also welcome applications from Band 5 staff who are awaiting verification of a specialist portfolio within the next 8-12 weeks.

For staff wishing to apply for the band 5 positions, consideration will be given also to those staff who have recently completed their generic IBMS registration portfolio and have submitted a request to the Institute for external verification at the time of interview.

Bedford Hospital NHS Trust provides a range of hospital care services to over Apply people living predominantly in north and mid Bedfordshire and is the vascular hub for Bedfordshire. There are approximately 425 inpatient beds of which 44 are maternity and 10 are critical care, plus 28 day-case beds within the hospital. The hospital provides a full range of district general hospital services
