Job Description

We are looking for a full time, qualified band 8A clinical \/ forensic or counselling psychologist to work within a newly developed multi-disciplinary community forensic outreach team for people with intellectual disabilities. The post involves providing specialist assessment and intervention with offenders with intellectual disabilities (ID), and possible complex co morbid mental health needs, focused on supporting patients discharged from hospital to re-integrate into the community, and also more proactive work identifying risky clients in the community and preventing future admissions. The successful applicant will also be required to provide specialist consultation and training to a variety of other agencies, including ID Community services and the Criminal Justice System, and to supervise assistant psychologists \/ trainees and \/ or newly qualified psychologists. The service has been commissioned as part of the Transforming Care agenda.

KMPT LD forensic services received a CQC rating of outstanding features in 2019, and a RCP Low Secure Quality Network review gave the service a rating of 96%, indicating a very high quality service. The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic team that demand high levels of excellence in clinical practice. There are good links to local clinical and forensic psychology training programmes.

Service Management will be based within LD forensic inpatient services in Dartford, and the successful appplicant may also be required to complete work within these in patient services as part of their role. To deliver an effective service it is essential that you are able to travel between bases in a timely manner. The post will cover the whole of Kent, involve remote \/ virtual working, and hot desking in hubs in East and West Kent. Current driving license and own transport essential
