Job Description

This role is based in Viapath Services which provides and manages Viapath's laboratory facilities, including all equipment, consumables, maintenance services and LIMS.

The Application Management Support (AMS) team is part of the Viapath IT team based at the various Viapath sites. The team maintains the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) which is currently Cerner Pathnet Classic 015, Pathnet Millennium and Clinisys WinPath v5.32 and v7.13 and they are linked to the Trust's EPR system for electronic orders and results. The LIMS system is connected to series of analytical platforms and middleware, instrument managers and interfaces. The AMS team work very closely with various Pathology disciplines, LIMS suppliers, Trust ICT departments, Viapath IT Infrastructure & Servicedesk to support various software and hardware peripherals which includes network printers, barcode scanners, analysers, PCs and associated database systems linked through local PCs or servers in the Viapath Portal and GSTT network.

In addition, the AMS team also supports the electronic requesting and reporting for GP Practices through the EMIS Health tQuest and Keystone systems.

The post holder will work on a Secondment basis for 9 months as part of the AMS team located in Viapath Corporate Head office with onsite presence at GSTT. The post holder will work under the direction of the Head of AMS or AMS Assistant Manager to provide a high quality professional service to laboratory staff and stakeholders located at multiple sites.

The post holder will be required to work autonomously, with other team members and/or system users in a specialist role to achieve individual, team and departmental objectives and tasks.

To provide day-to-day LIMS/IT support for the technical, diagnostic, analytical and administrative services in a first, second and third line support capacity to meet the needs of the multiple laboratories and Viapath IT department. To further develop the existing LIMS/IT applications used in the departments and investigate a range of LIMS/IT issues within specialised areas such as Middleware, Instrument managers and Network Infrastructure.

Responsibilities include support, configuration, design, development and maintenance of application systems for Viapath laboratories with a clinical outlook. To run daily operational and system programmes to analyse and summarise the labs workload data extracts on a regular and ad hoc basis to support clinical and management decisions. To provide audits and research material as requested.

The post is 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday plus Out of hours support (On-call).
