Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Plastic Surgeon with a special interest in Innovation. This is a new and exciting role created with specific responsibilities around the leadership and development of innovation within GSTT and KHP and as a working clinician, will be a role model for clinical innovators. This will include a formal Clinical Innovation leadership role within the KHP Medtech Hub. A key part of the role will also be leadership of a Clinical Innovation Network (CIN) - an active community of engaged clinical innovators who will provide the leadership and advocacy required to bring the GSTT innovation strategy to life. The post-holder will lead a small, highly engaged, multidisciplinary group, including representatives from the Medical Director's Office and Commercial Directorate, acting as a steering group for strategic development, planning of activities and as a hub for the wider network of Trust innovators. This role forms an important part of the 2020-25 Commercial Strategy, the success of which is a major enabler for the Trust clinical strategy as well as a key part of the Trust strategy relating to the MedTech Hub. The post holder will work closely with the Commercial Innovation team, providing clinical insight and leadership, alongside the Commercial Innovation/IP lead.

The Department of Plastic Surgery is a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward thinking team. The department is currently looking to develop its services and to keep the service in the forefront of clinical and academic excellence, so are looking for an individual with appropriate skills to complement this team. The Department offers a wide range of services to patients from lower leg trauma reconstruction to post-cancer breast and head and neck reconstruction. The new consultant will help run and develop these services across the St Thomas' site and other Trust locations, as well as develop the hidradenitis suppartivia service in collaboration with the dermatology service. The post-holder will undertake outpatient sessions and there is also an opportunity to work with the Neurofibromatosis service. This is an excellent opportunity to join a first class team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment.

You must be fully registered with the GMC/GDC and hold Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent at interview stage.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years) and therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
