Consultant Ophthalmologist
South Coast NHS Trust
Salary is £79, 860 to £ Apply p.a. for 10 PAs
Indigo Healthcare have the pleasure of working with a lovely NHS Trust based on the South West of England who are seeking an experienced Ophthalmology Doctor to work at Consultant level.
The consultants at the unit have special interests in Cataract, Glaucoma, Medical and Surgical Retina, Oculoplastics and Neuro-ophthalmology. A special interest in one of the above services or a complementary service will be considered.
This is a highly regarded unit and an extremely well-equipped outpatient facility with Triton OCT Angiography, Topcon 3D OCT, Heidelberg Spectralis, PASCAL, Diode, YAG and SLT Lasers, Fluorescein and ICG angiography and ultrasonic pachymeters. Surgery is provided in the fully equipped eye theatre in the adjacent day surgery unit.
The eye department is active in research with several ongoing international and national studies including a glaucoma genetics study.
The post-holder will be experienced and able to undertake both Theatre and Clinics. The successful candidate will take part in teaching and supervision of junior doctors and other health professionals associated with the service. All clinicians will be expected and encouraged to participate in clinical governance initiatives, clinical effectiveness and audit and risk management.

Requirement Include:
- Specialist Registration with the GMC would be ideal
- UK experience would be ideal
- MRCOphth or equivalent
- Minimum of 6 years clinical experience in Ophthalmology
- Ability to diagnose and manage all of the common ophthalmic conditions, including ophthalmic emergencies Surgical experience, particularly phacoemulsification cataract surgery
