Job Description


University College Hospital is part of the UCLH NHS Foundation Trust which has a reputation for innovation, research and providing excellent patient-focused care.

UCLH is participating in the largest National lung cancer screening trial. In UCH’s Applycancer strategy, it plans to improve early diagnosis of cancer to deliver better outcomes for our population. UCH is working with our academic partner, UCL and an American healthcare company to make strides in achieving this agenda. The Trial incorporates a large scale cancer screening study across north and east London that will be one of its kind. One of the objectives is to deliver systematic population wide lung cancer screening in north and east London to make a step change in outcomes for patients. The study will run for three years and will recruit 50,000 participants in its first year. To deliver the objectives on lung cancer screening, four dedicated sites have been identified where study participants will have lung health checks and low dose CT scans. The sites which you would be rotating through are:
  • Finchley Memorial Hospital, Granville Rd, London, N12 0JE
  • King Georges Hospital (TBC)

Job Title: Band 5 Radiographer.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic radiographer to join our forward-thinking and friendly service as part of a study.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn and develop your skills in CT and be involved with research.

The department is supportive of role development; currently there are radiographers reporting in Axial/Appendicular, Chest, Abdomen, Fluoroscopy and MRI.

UCH promotes and facilitates continual professional development for staff with many available in-house training opportunities.

We are looking to recruit a radiographer with good communication skills and a patient-centred approach. The successful candidates will work alongside the study team to provide a patient focused world leading lung cancer screening trial. You will also be actively involved in the teaching of assistant practitioners, support staff and the assessment of student radiographers whilst on clinical placement.

This role does not require participation in the OOH rota, but there will be opportunities for additional duties on a voluntary basis.
