Job Description

We are looking for a Dietitian to deliver a specialist dietetic service to urology inpatients and gastroenterology in and outpatients. We are a friendly and dynamic team of around 30 , Dietitians and dietetic assistants and admin staff. Our department is very active in research.

The gastroenterology caseload will consist of mainly luminal gastroenterology, including coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and could include some work within eating disorders, gastroparesis and upper GI conditions depending on your interests, experience and caseload.

We are hoping you could be involved in nutrition and MUST training to medical and nursing staff within urology, and to establish yourself as a key part of the urology MDT.

Your inpatient caseload would include urology and medical patients on TPN. You could participate in the weekly nutrition ward round as part of the nutrition team, and you may help to cover the surgical TPN caseload during periods of absence or high volume caseloads, as part of the wider team. At times you may follow your IBD patients if they have surgery, with support of the surgical dietitian. We will also expect the post-holder to help provide cover for the wider team during periods of annual leave.

Post registration dietetic experience of clinics and within the area of nutrition support, and a genuine interest and enthusiasm to specialise in gastroenterology, urology, and TPN is essential.

As part of our commitment to service improvement and quality, we would expect you to undertake audit and research projects relevant to the post. In return, we will encourage and support relevant CPD.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, flexible, has a good rapport with patients and staff, and takes pride in providing an efficient and effective dietetic service.

If you apply for this vacancy and have not received a communication from this Trust within three weeks of the closing date, please assume that on this occasion your application has been unsuccessful.

Please note that this Trust does not reimburse travel expenses relating to interview attendance.

If you feel you meet the requirements of the Disability Act / Two Ticks scheme and require further support/advice, please contact us on tel 0117 414 1151.

This organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The successful applicant(s) will normally commence at the minimum of the scale unless they have previous NHS service at the same band. Progression through the scale is by annual increments.

Staff identify as 'At Risk' and who meet the essential shortlisting criteria of the post will be prioritised. Priority will be given to North Bristol NHS Trust employees in the first instance.
