Job Description

We are looking for Health Care Support Workers who wish to work with adults aged 18 and above in an inpatient mental health setting. Ashdown is a 6 bedded male, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit that cares for individuals with the highest level of mental health needs that currently require intensive nursing support and a safe environment.

Health Care Support Workers on Ashdown work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals to ensure that the clinical, environmental and social needs of our service users are met. Our role is to work collaboratively with individuals to empower them in their recovery and enable them to move through the care pathway. Experience of having worked in a health care setting is desirable but not essential.

The team on Ashdown is committed to the continuing professional development of all staff. We can provide the opportunity to gain experience in mental health care for candidates working towards registered nursing qualification or allied health qualifications by supporting access to apprenticeship schemes and training provided by Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership. Supportive training and supervision is integral to this role.

Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust(AWP) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. We also provide specialist services extending throughout the south west.

We employ over 4,000 dedicated members of staff who deliver services from more than 90 locations, working in approximately 150 teams across a geographical region of 2,200 miles, for a population of approximately 1.8million people.

We are passionate about promoting good mental health and wellbeing. We strive to use the expertise and resources within our organisation, and through our partnerships, to deliver high quality services that are safe and focused on people's recovery. Our staff are pivotal in everything we do and we are committed to involving them fully in the development of the Trust and our services.

Adverts normally close for application a few minutes before midnight on the closing date. Interview expenses will not normally be paid. Applicants shortlisted for interview will be contacted via our recruitment system TRAC so please check your emails regularly. If you have not been contacted within 4 weeks after the closing date please assume that your application has been unsuccessful. We only accept applications submitted via NHS Jobs and TRAC. Any personal details supplied to AWP by you will be held on the Trust systems in line with the General Data Protection Regulation. AWP is committed to Equality and Diversity - we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
