£37,935 p.a excl. LZ
Nodal point - 3
Fixed Term - 6 months
Full Time - 40 hours per week

The Cardiovascular directorate at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is a large, tertiary center for acute referrals, providing highly specialised treatments to patients of South East London, Surrey, Sussex and Kent. The three departments of Vascular Surgery, Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery have 132 beds at the St Thomas' hub site, 5 cardiac catheter laboratories, 4 dedicated operating theaters and a vascular hybrid facility with integrated imaging. The senior clinical teams in the directorate provide some of the most advanced treatment options available, including mini invasive/cardiovascular and open Cardiac and Vascular surgical procedures.

The teams also provide more routine treatments for patients in the local area and beyond. The directorate would like to appoint a proactive and highly-motivated individual starting in December 2019 on a 6 month Fixed Term Contract with the possibility of extension to 1 year. The successful applicant will be part of the surgical team providing clinical care to complex vascular patients across Guy's & St Thomas' with excellent exposure to the whole breadth of Vascular surgery, covering mainly Vascular Surgery wards, outpatient and theaters with both Vascular and Cardiac surgery out of hour on-calls.

Applicants will need to have a surgical background on a foundation year level with an interest in cardiovascular surgery. The post would be ideal for doctors who have finished their Nodal Point 2 year and working towards Nodal point 3 application. The job will be tailored to the individual to include an introduction to more advanced clinical/surgical skills and allied research.
