Job Description

Applications are invited for the role of Consultant in Haematology (with an interest in Cellular Immunotherapy and Stem Cell Transplantation) at Addenbrooke's Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH).

This is an exciting opportunity to join our established clinical team and participate in the development of our Cellular Immunotherapy, Stem Cell Transplantation and Haemato-Oncology Services.

We are looking for two enthusiastic individuals to fill these new posts as part of a broader expansion of the cellular immunotherapy and stem cell transplantation teams.

Post 1: Available from February 2020

Post 2: Available from July 2020

Within the Trust there is an increasing focus on cellular therapies, following the selection of Cambridge University Hospital for commissioning as an NHS CAR T-Cell Centre, and the proposed enlargement of the Cambridge Cellular Therapy Laboratory into new purpose-built facilities to support the delivery of several new cellular therapy trials and commissioned therapies.

The Department of Haematology at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers the full range of clinical (levels 1-4) and laboratory Haematology. It acts as a Tertiary Referral Centre for complex cases and serves as routine service for local patients.

Strong links exist between the Clinical Service, the Academic Department and the Haemato-Oncology Diagnostic Service. The role will also require collaboration with regional hospital colleagues.

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Haematology or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

Leadership is a key requirement of doctors' professional work and this innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.

The applicants must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013).
