Job Description

You will be a confident and experienced mental health clinician, who will work across the acute general hospital to provide mental health assessments, care, advice and training to both the Emergency Departments and in-patient wards. You will be able to meet the assessment and formulation needs of both working age adults and older adults and have a good insight into your training needs to fulfil this role. You will have experience of having worked in a supervisory position before, and you must be able to demonstrate willingness to ensure that KMPT's values are realised in the way that the service operates. Postgraduate leadership and\/or management training is desirable.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills that you will use to facilitate high quality mental health assessments, and to build good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will be committed to the parity of esteem agenda, and work closely with both physical and mental health clinicians to ensure a seamless delivery of care. You will support your team to provide the best possible care to patients and their families.

A flexible and can do attitude is essential, as is a passion for ensuring that the mental health needs of patients are addressed on par with their physical health. A diverse post qualification experience in mental health is required, as is at least 2 years post qualifying experience, with at least one of these years having worked in a Band 6 role. Liaison Psychiatry experience is desirable although not essential. The Maidstone Liaison Psychiatry Service currently operates 24 hour serivce, 365 days a year. There is an expectation that the successful candidate will work predominantly Monday to Friday.
