Job Description

We are seeking a psychology graduate with previous experience as an assistant psychologist to work within the Health & Justice Service. The post holder will work into rehabilitation units (in Middlesbrough and Durham) as well as the secure outreach and transitions teams (SOTT) supporting clients in their recovery journey. The post holder will be based at Roseberry Park Hospital, Middlesbrough but will be expected to travel in order to meet the requirements of the post. Means of independent travel is thus essential.

The forensic services provided to clients with learning disabilities has been in existence for over 20 years and during this time has developed an impressive and extensive strategy for community services, with a strong commitment to rehabilitation, relapse prevention and community integration, via a large multi-disciplinary team comprising of nursing, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, psychiatry and social work. The psychology team working with people with a LD within Health & Justice Services currently consists of one Principal Applied Psychologist, two Specialist Applied Psychologists and a Trainee Forensic Psychologist.

The successful individual will also have the opportunity to work into the Dialectical Intensive Therapies Team - Secure (DITT-S), a highly specialised team of therapists trained in DBT and radically open DBT, delivering comprehensive assessment, consultation and formulation, and group and individual therapy as necessary and appropriate, as well as contribute to existing research projects within the service under supervision of a psychologist.
