Trafford Discharge Assessment Unit advert (Physiotherapist)

Full time, permanent post – 37.5 hours

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Physiotherapist with skills in assessing, planning and carrying out rehabilitation and discharge plans for patients with complex physical, mental and social needs on the Trafford Discharge Assessment Unit.

The Trafford Discharge Assessment Unit has a strong interdisciplinary ethos with the role involving an element of generic working within the therapy team, offering the development of new skills. A background in intermediate care, frailty, community rehabilitation and an interest in dementia/ delirium would be beneficial.

The Trafford Discharge Assessment Unit prides itself in delivering high class interdisciplinary assessment and discharge planning for its patients.

The successful applicant will have the skills to assess every patient’s abilities to return to their preferred place on leaving the hospital, as this is integral to the team’s vision. Excellent clinical reasoning skills, rapid assessment and discharge planning skills in addition to meeting the needs of patients with complex medical needs are required for this post. The post holder must be a calm but assertive communicator, who is able to negotiate a way forward in even the most challenging situations.

The post holder, at onset, will be supported by a robust induction, and appraisal programme. There is a support network for all staff including clinical supervision and you will be directly involved in the supervision of junior staff and students.

The successful candidate will be part of the on call respiratory physiotherapy rota at Trafford General Hospital.

Applicants should be prepared to participate in a 7 day working service.

The successful candidate must hold a full driving licence as this is essential to meet the requirements of this post.
