Therapies Directorate Band 7 Physiotherapist - Rehabilitation in critical care, St Thomas' Hospital.
An opportunity has arisen within Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust for a dynamic physiotherapist with proven clinical skills, looking to practice within the specialist area of rehabilitation in critical care. The critical care at St Thomas comprises of 41 beds including management of severe respiratory failure with the capability for ECMO. This is a mixed cohort of medical and surgical patients. The post holder will join as a team lead within a group of 4 band 7's and be supported by a respiratory clinical specialist and a rehabilitation clinical lead. They would work directly with the respiratory team in critical care and be expected to promote the rehab agenda within the physiotherapy and wider MDT. The candidate will be a key member of the wider Rehabilitation Physiotherapy Team and work collaboratively with the Rehabilitation and Respiratory B8a/b Physiotherapy Team leads. They will develop close links with other allied health professionals, physicians and nursing leads in the Directorate. The candidate will undertake advanced assessments and deliver interventions to optimise rehabilitation as well as delivering respiratory care.
In addition to these clinical duties, the candidate will be responsible for day-to-day operational management of 2 rotational rehabilitation band 6 posts. This will include supervising and appraising staff, managing service provision and delivering undergraduate training. They will also take part in the management of the wider respiratory physiotherapy team working in critical care.
As an excellent communicator you will demonstrate a desire to work both creatively and collaboratively to drive forward the development and research agenda of the local and wider teams. The candidate will have had experience at a senior level including acute rehabilitation and respiratory care. There will be opportunity to develop clinical management and leadership, supported by Clinical Specialist and Clinical Lead Physiotherapists.
The physiotherapy service has a high profile within the Trust. The post is currently being advertised as full time post as part of our 7-day services, reflecting the physiotherapy department's commitment to meeting patient needs and delivering excellence. It is essential the post holder is able to work flexibly across 7-days and contribute fully to on-call out of hours services.
