Job Description

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) is one of the leading mental health trusts in the UK.
Serving a population of 1.2million people, the Trust employs around 4750 people who make a difference across 130 locations. Situated in one of the most exciting and affordable cities in Europe, GMMH provides community and inpatient mental health care, alongside substance misuse services across the North West.
GMMH is one of the most active research trusts in the UK, with one of the highest levels of recruitment to clinical trials for mental health. This puts our staff and service users at the leading edge of new mental health treatments.
The Trust provides a range of specialist services including prison in reach across the North of England, a specialist centre for mental health and deafness and in patient perinatal mental health care.
We have been rated 'Good' overall by the Care Quality Commission. Our substance misuse services and leadership were rated as 'Outstanding'

As a clinical pharmacist, you will participate in the delivery of clinical pharmacy services to designated wards and services and undertake clinical and accuracy checking within the dispensaries. The role will include providing pharmaceutical advice to medical staff, nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and to patients and their carers. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that drug therapy is evidence based, safe, cost effective and appropriate to the individual patient. Your role will also include ensuring that medicines management practices within the MDT and services comply with legal, national and local guidelines.
You must be a member of the GPhC and have a four year masters degree. Previous experience should include multidisciplinary working and supervising staff in a hospital or community pharmacy. There is a frequent requirement to travel and you will be part of our Band 7 rotational clinical pharmacy service, spending time at each of our sites in Bolton, Prestwich and Salford. There is an occasional requirement to travel across the wide footprint of the Trust to attend meetings and events relevant to the role.
Support will be given to candidates wishing to undertake a postgraduate certificate or diploma in psychiatric therapeutics.
The main pharmacy site is at Prestwich Hospital where the specialist services are based. Satellite pharmacies operate elsewhere within the Trust. We issue over Apply items a year, at a value of in excess of £2 million from the department. Psychiatric services give pharmacists the opportunity to be an integral part of the MDT due to the nature of our clients and the patient focused team approach. Pharmacists are supported by technicians with the medicines reconciliation process.
