Job Description

Role: Lead Clinical Pharmacist (PICU & NICU)
Site: The Portland Hospital, London
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week with on-call and weekend requirements.
Contract Type: Permanent

We have a exciting opportunity for a Lead Clinical Pharmacist to join The Portland Hospital for Women and Children, currently rated "Good" by the CQC. The Portland Hospital is the only private hospital in the UK dedicated to the healthcare of women and children, caring for more than 40,000 children every year. We have a spacious, modern 18 bed unit within PICU (which has expanded from 9 beds and still growing), equipped with the latest technology and cutting-edge treatment all of which is medically supported by our team of Consultant Paediatric Intensivists 24/7.

In this role you will be a key member of the pharmacy leadership team, you will be responsible for developing, monitoring and leading on the provision of a high quality, patient focused, clinical pharmacy service which consistently meets the needs of all service users.

The Lead Clinical Pharmacist will lead on service and professional development, audit and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs). You will also be a key stakeholder for relevant Quality Improvement Project(s) (QIPs). You will be integral in developing and providing training, education and mentorship to pharmacists and technical staff.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leading and developing specialist services to Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care
  • Leading on drug validation and configuration for ICCA prescribing system
  • Leading on and developing drug validation and configuration for Meditech
  • Expanse prescribing system
  • Providing expert advice on pharmaceutical matters in PICU and NICU
  • Participating in clinical audits and transformation projects
Skills and experience
  • MPharm (or equivalent) and registered with the GPhC
  • Independent Prescriber (desirable)
  • Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma/Masters in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent) or willingness to enrol
  • Experience covering PICU/NICU specialties
  • Experience in specialist areas: paediatrics, women's health, critical care, cardiology and enteral nutrition
  • Experience in a hospital setting
