Healthcare Assistant - Oncology (Ward)
Manchester, The Christie Private Care
Full time, 37.5 hours per week (Day, Night and Weekend shifts)
Permanent
Salary: Up to £23,576 per annum dependent on experience. Plus shift allowance.
We're looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our Nursing team at The Christie Private Care, currently rated 'Outstanding' by the CQC. H CA Healthcare UK has developed a dedicated private centre in partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. The Christie Private Care treats private patients with a full range of diagnostic, inpatient, surgical, day case and outpatient treatment all on one site.
As a Healthcare Assistant in the ward, you will be responsible for providing skilled clinical assistance to the nursing and medical teams. The successful candidate will participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain the agreed standards of care.
Further assisting with both patient and non-patient manual handling, cleaning duties and waste disposal, re-stocking and ensuring the ward is tidy.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Assisting in the provision of care to patients so as to ensure their comfort/safety needs are identified, whilst ensuring cultural and religious beliefs are taken into consideration.
- Reporting to nurses any problems arising out of conversations with patients and acting as the patient advocate at all times.
- Report patient's condition when required and record observations of temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, pulse oximetry, urinalysis, blood sugars, weight and height.
- Preparing dressing/procedures under the direction of the clinical team and for which instruction has been given
- Assisting nursing and medical staff when required with different procedures for example venepuncture and cannulation.
What you'll bring:
- NVQ level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable
- Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant
- Good Clinical Skills like Phlebotomy will be an advantage
- Experience of working with members of the public is essential
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English verbally and written
