Job Description

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 2 (aligned with AFC) £22,383 pro rata per annum plus enhancements

Hours/Contract: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (days & nights)

Contract Type: Permanent

Based: Marie Curie Newcastle Hospice

Our 18 bed Inpatient Unit provides specialist care and support to patients living with a life limiting condition and their families. With high staff to patient ratios, you'll have the time to ensure our patients receive the best possible care as well as receiving training and support to ensure you develop both professionally and personally.

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work within a team
  • Flexible approach to working patterns. Shifts include nights and weekends
  • Recent experience in a health/social care setting
  • Empathy and an understanding of issues encountered by patients with palliative care needs

To join our dedicated, caring team, you'll need an S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma, or be willing to work towards it, and relevant experience - ideally within a care setting. Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own are crucial, though we will of course provide excellent on-going training and support. We expect you to have a talent for forging strong empathetic relationships with all kinds of people, whilst providing palliative care.
