In our theatre department, the collaboration between ODPs, nurses, and surgeons is the linchpin of our patient-centred approach. ODPs, with their expertise in surgical procedures and patient preparation, set the stage for seamless operations. As a Band 5 ODP at Kingston Hospital, you will play a pivotal role in the care of our patients. Your expertise will shine before, during, and after a wide spectrum of complex and innovative operations.

•Lead the planning and delivery of safe and effective care for patients undergoing surgical procedures.

•Inspire and supervise a team of ODPs, ensuring the seamless operation of the department.

•Collaborate with top surgeons, anaesthetists, and healthcare professionals, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

•Participate in pre-operative assessments, patient consent, and safety checks.

•Provide expert assistance during surgeries, ensuring a smooth flow of instruments and equipment.

•Be the guardian of patients' vital signs, responding promptly to any changes or emergencies.

•Uphold the highest standards of infection control, maintaining a sterile and safe environment.

•Keep accurate and up-to-date patient records, contributing to the continuum of care.


•Diploma or degree in Operating Department Practice.

•Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

•A wealth of experience in a hospital setting, showcasing your leadership skills.

•In-depth knowledge of surgical procedures and techniques.

•Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

•Thrive under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage your time efficiently.
