Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria
  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • Registered with the Health Care Professions Council

Desirable criteria
  • Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • Membership of the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists
  • Evidence of attendance to training in the area of assessment and treatment of children with functional needs and musculoskeletal conditions


Experience Essential criteria
  • Specialist knowledge/experience in paediatric physiotherapy
  • 3 years experience as a Band 5 physiotherapist
  • Knowledge/experience in the use of relevant assessment and treatment approaches and practices, including the use of standardised assessments.
  • Evidence of effective multi-disciplinary and multi-agency work

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of delivering physiotherapy within a clinic and community setting


Skills Essential criteria
  • Ability to priorities workload effectively
  • Sound knowledge of clinical practice and issues relating to the delivery of physiotherapy
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of a variety of treatment modalities eg: neurodevelopmental therapy, equipment for postural management, musculoskeletal treatment techniques
  • Sound knowledge of clinical practice and issues relating to the delivery of physiotherapy

Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of basic audit and quality tools
  • Knowledge of Rio or EMIS systems


Other Essential criteria
  • Ability to work in a team as well as individually and take initiative
  • Evidence of own self development through appraisal, CPD and portfolio
  • Enthusiasm
  • Demonstrate strong client focus

  • Professionally active in Specialist Section


physical Essential criteria
  • To demonstrate physical ability to carry out physiotherapy assessment and intervention
  • To demonstrate highly developed dexterity, coordination and palpatory sensory skills for assessment and treatment of children with a variety of conditions.

Desirable criteria
  • Able to get to all sites required for the post and to be flexible to meet the needs of the role
