Job Description
Summary
- To provide specialist dietetic care to the Tier 3 Weight Assessment and Management Service in Bristol and Wiltshire (currently remote) via individual dietitian clinics and online group "mood and food" programme with psychology.
- To deliver a dietetic service, at a novice level, to tier 4 patients in the pre and post op phase with support from senior dietitians
- To work closely and communicate well with other members of the multi-disciplinary teams
- To assess and treat a defined caseload of patients and maintain accurate records.
- To deliver group and individual education and training, especially concerning obesity, to a range of health professionals, students and patients.
- To act as an expert practitioner in Obesity care
- To lead and contribute to policy development on matters relating to nutrition and dietetics within NBT, especially those pertaining to obesity
- Course of study leading to registration as a dietitian with the Health Professions Council
- Current registered dietitian status with HPC
- Post-graduate experience in communication and behaviour change skills
- Detailed knowledge of and interest in the common clinical conditions and best dietetic management of patients living with obesity
- Evidence of ability to work in an MDT, gain the co-operation of others and manage conflict
- Experience of audit and research
- Empathic, helpful and friendly personality
- Post-graduate training in communication and behaviour change skills
- Have achieved or be working towards second gateway of Band 5 in post dealing with patients where behaviour change is necessary
- Recent experience of working in a Tier 3 and 4 weight management service
- Experience of using online platforms for group education
- Experience of creating online resources, web development, managing social media accounts or app development
Education/Training/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Course of study leading to registration as a dietitian with the Health Professions Council
- Current registered dietitian status with HPC
- Teaching qualification or experience of delivering education to groups
- A range of work experience as a dietitian including settings where behaviour change is necessary
- Detailed knowledge of common clinical conditions and best dietetic management. Detailed knowledge of specialist area care procedures and practice
- Evidence of ability to deal with clients where there may be barriers to communication such as mental impairment, impaired speech, deafness or where English is not the patient's first language.
- Understanding of confidentiality as it relates to dietetic practice
- Experience of leading a project
- Have completed or be working towards a BDA validated post-graduate course such as Diabetes Care course
- Post-graduate training in communication and behaviour change skills
- Clinical Supervisory Skills course
- Course of study related to creating online resources, web development, managing social media accounts or app development
- Recent experience of working in a Tier 3 and 4 weight management service
- Experience of using online platforms for group education
