Job overview

A rare opportunity has arisen for a helpful and skilled full time Administrator in Medico-legal Services, to cover Maternity Leave for 1 year (secondment or fixed term contract).

The successful applicant will possess excellent administration, organisation, communication and IT skills. The post holder must be capable of using their own initiative, whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality and discretion at all times.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job:

- sorting and copying medical records (including checking for misfiled entries and sensitive information).

- ensuring disclosure of copy medical records is on time and sent securely.

- collecting medical records from within the hospital site.

- taking telephone calls and triaging calls to either assist the caller, or where appropriate, take messages for more senior input.

- email management of the generic medico-legal inbox and Head of Department's inbox.

- data input of claims and inquest details on Medico-legal database (Datix) and spread sheets.

- filing.

- ensure deadlines and KPIs are met in the department.

- track medical records and use clinical databases to extract patient information.

- juggle competing demands using initiative and organisation skills.
