Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
- Maintain a patient focussed Hotel Services function across clinical and non-clinical areas.
- Ensure standards within the designated areas meet the national cleaning standards across the site for the trust.
- Report any issues to Site Supervisor or Facilities Manager.
- To undertake a range of duties associated with the upkeep of the clinical environment to meet the requirements of the Trust and the National specification from cleanliness in the NHS.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
- The daily shift plan is completed in the agreed time scale and hygiene standards are met.
- Cleaning is carried out in accordance with recognised approved Trust methods/procedures.
- To participate in the Cleanliness in Hospitals Programme.
- To complete departmental performance monitoring weekly, to achieve and maintain the Trust standard.
- To ensure waste is disposed of in accordance with the Trust waste disposal policy, assuring Health and Safety standards are adhered to.
- Removal of rubbish to designated collection points.
- To wear the uniform provided, and ensure that it is kept clean and presentable at all times.
- To wear the staff name badge provided by the Trust at all times when on duty.
- No jewellery is to be worn except a wedding ring and single ear studs.
- To co-operate with managers and other employees to achieve a healthy and safe environment.
- To take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of other persons who may be affected by your actions, and to carry out your responsibilities in ways that ensure a safe and healthy place of work.
- In the course of work you are to bring to the attention of your supervisor or manager:
- Any situation which reasonably could be considered to represent a serious or immediate danger to the health and safety of any person.
- Any matter which reasonably could be considered to represent a shortcoming in the Trusts health and safety protection arrangements.
- Provide assistance with staff training whilst in the work place and to include manual handling, ensuring all data is collated for each member of staff.
- To ensure waste is disposed of in accordance with the trust waste disposal policy and ensuring Health and safety standards are adhered to.
- To ensure all Hotel Services Staff are wearing the correct uniform provided by the trust and to maintain a clean and tidy appearance at all times.
- Wear the staff name badge provided by the trust at all times when on duty.
- Jewellery is to be kept to a minimum so a wedding band and single ear studs all staff are expected to adhere to the Uniforms and workwear policy at all times.
- Communicate effectively with all staff members to achieve a healthy and safe environment.
- Whilst at work you are to bring to the attention of your supervisor or manager:
- All situations which could be considered to represent a serious or immediate danger to the health and safety of any person.
- Any situation which could be considered to represent a failing in the trusts health and safety protection arrangements.
- The post holder will be required to attend training sessions which are not necessarily held at your work place and sometimes not whilst rostered into work.
- To undertake other duties at the discretion of your supervisor or Trust Manager.
Person specificationTraining / QualificationsEssential criteria
- English Level 1
- Maths Level 1
Desirable criteria
- NVQ in cleaning
- Training in waste
ExperienceEssential criteria
- Previous Cleaning Experience
- Experience working on inpatient ward
Desirable criteria
- NHS Experience
- Working in Mental health
Knowledge & SkillsEssential criteria
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Team Player
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of NHS Cleaning standards
- Knowledge of Coshh
