Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Full registration with General Medical Council or eligible if currently working overseas
- Currently on the Specialist Register or eligibility for inclusion within 6 months of the
- Higher professional qualification (eg. FRCS or equivalent)
- Published research papers/presentations.
- Completion of a relevant management course / programme
- MD or PhD
- Teaching qualification
Essential criteria
- Comprehensive training on a recognized SpR programme or equivalent
- Understanding of Payment by Results and implications for specialty
- Demonstrable experience in all aspects of Clinical Governance.
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
- Experience of leading clinical audits, implementing change, and monitoring compliance
- A track record in teaching medical and other clinical staff and students
- Management experience
Essential criteria
- Ability to organise, prioritise, delegate, and manage
- Ability to work productively in multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to develop rapport with and discuss treatment options with patients in a way they can understand
- Strong leadership skills and performance driven
- Ability to develop, motivate and lead multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to advise on the efficient and smooth running of a specialist service
- Ability to initiate and implement change
- Ability to supervise junior medical staff Ability to design and deliver talks/ lectures/workshops effectively
- Good interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence demonstrated by the ability to work closely and effectively with staff at all levels and disciplines.
