Job Description

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for service users with complex mental health needs.

The postholder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team for mental health services and, as such, will work within its co-ordinated framework.

The postholder will work within the procedures, protocols and guidelines for the Service.

The postholder will plan and organise their work schedule and tasks, having managerial and clinical supervision as the role demands.

The successful applicant will join an experienced team and benefit from close support from the teams Clinical team manager. There are excellent opportunities for shared learning and continuing professional development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder is primarily responsible for providing Cognitive Behavioural assessment, formulation and therapy to service users with complex mental health needs. To provide services that meet the agreed service priorities consonant with practitioner experience and expertise.

In conjunction with other psychological therapists working within the service, the post holder will contribute as appropriate to the provision of individual and group CBT based interventions.

Although the post holder will be primarily responsible for providing psychological input to individual clients, they will function as an integral member of the service's multi-disciplinary team, and will on occasion support crisis management and other tasks that will support us to provide the best possible service to our clients.

In conjunction with other clinical psychologists/psychological therapists working within the service, the post holder will contribute as appropriate to the provision of individual and group evidenced based interventions.

The post holder will contribute to the supervision and development of other staff.

The post holder will plan and organise their work schedule and tasks within the parameters of the Job Plan agreed with the Team Manager.



Person specification

Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • •Doctoral level professional qualification, or equivalent, in Clinical Psychology thereby enabling registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions' Council. OR A registered qualification in health care at graduate level in nursing, social work or allied health profession PLUS post- graduate qualification (diploma equivalent) in cognitive behaviour therapy


Desirable criteria
  • •Training in another specialist therapeutic modality appropriate to the clinical population served and service requirements (e.g. DBT, CAT, EMDR, CBTp, MBT)


Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • •A thorough understanding of what is required in working in a Multi-Disciplinary Team in terms of appropriate and professional behaviour and in dealing with confidentiality and similar issues.
