Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • 1. First degree or equivalent qualification 2. Post graduate certificate or evidence of CPD in highly specialised project management i.e Prince2

Skills
Essential criteria
  • 1. Ability to read and interpret architectural design layouts 2. Ability to plan, organise and deliver multi- stranded projects 3. Ability to work without constant direct supervision using own initiative within a constantly changing and demanding work environment 4. Ability to manage own and others work load, using own initiative as well as being part of a team 5. Strong time management skills, ability to prioritise and meet demanding deadlines 6. Lateral thinker with excellent problem solving skills 7. Excellent communication and liaison skills across a wide spectrum of staff groups 8. Excellent report writing, verbal and presentation skills 9. Highly developed organisational and planning ability 10. Evidenced facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills 11. Ability to use computer software to create project reports, documents, drawings and other project information with accuracy and attention to detail
Desirable criteria
  • 1. Ability to access complex situations and prioritise 2. Ability to present multi-stranded project, design, financial and contractual information to a variety of project stakeholders
Experience
Essential criteria
  • 1. Demonstrable experience of working within the NHS or health sector in a project management related capacity 2. Experience of NHS capital and construction project management in a large complex acute hospital/organisation 3. Experience of effective implementation of complex multidisciplinary estates related projects 4. Experience of procuring construction and refurbishment 5. Experience of procuring consultants and suppliers 6. Experience of managing external building contractors 7. Demonstrable management of external advisory consultants as part of a project team 8. Evidenced portfolio of previous capital project work with proven record
Desirable criteria
  • 1. Experience of managing external building contractors within a healthcare environment 2. Knowledge of building contract documentation and procurement routes
Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • 1. An evidenced understanding of the use of clinical output specifications and function contents required for acute hospital planning 2. Awareness of the application of Health Technical Memorandum & Health Building Notes within a healthcare environment 3. A robust and evidenced understanding of the NHS Estates Capital Investment Manual with a particular focus on Project Organisation, Management of Construction Projects, Commissioning a Health Care Facility
Desirable criteria
  • 1. Understanding of clinical relationships and adjacencies within a hospital facility with demonstration of recognised significance of support services, patient experience, consumerism and stakeholder (including patient) consultation
