Job Description
Within inpatients we have six teams including an adult PICU, an older adult ward and three AOWA wards. We also have an Inpatient Therapy Hub team which includes psychologists of various grades 8b, 8a's and band 4 assistant psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, activity coordinators, physical health and wellbeing assistant practitioner and therapy assistants.
The CRHTT is led by an 8b Clinical psychologist, and they offer a crisis toolbox intervention via assistant psychologists. within Liaison services there is provision for an 8b psychologist and band 4 assistants.
Across all three services there is several joint objectives to skill up the workforce in brief psychological interventions, promoting least restrictive practice provide reflective practice, offer multi modal interventions, write and embed in the MDT. Evaluating small scale change is an important facet of the role and we actively promote publishing clinical outcomes in various journals.
Support and supervision will be offered by Janet Winstanley - Lead Clinical Psychologist for the Division. There will be opportunities to connect to psychologists beyond the Wigan Division to build a network of support and skills sharing.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Offer effective clinical leadership across mental health acute inpatients, CRHTT and MH Liaison within the Wigan Division. Provision of clinical supervision to other practitioner psychologists working within these services. Lead on the sustainment, development and embedding of psychologically informed pathways. Lead on quality improvement initiatives to reduce restrictive interventions and support the system to reflect and work in a trauma informed way. Value using principals of co-design/production where appropriate.
Offer of highly specialist clinical psychology assessment, formulation and brief intervention within the inpatient wards focusing on holding of a small complex caseload. Working as a key senior clinician within relevant pathways, contributing to the wider MDT (including provision of training, supervision, reflective practice, post incident support and consultation where required). Day to day support to the psychology practitioners within the areas cited above.

Person specification
Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Doctoral/Masters Degree or equivalent experience/qualification, plus further specialist training research or study, conferring advanced theoretical and practical knowledge within a specialist field of psychological therapy.
- Registration with the HCPC
Desirable criteria
- Additional further training and qualifications in a range of therapeutic models (e.g. CBT, IPT, EMDR, CAT) and in the use of specific psychometric and/or neuropsychological assessment tools.
