Job Description
You will already be a strong team player and be capable of building excellent working relationships with members of the multi-disciplinary team and other hospital departments. Excellent communication skills are a fundamental skill as you need to give and receive quality handovers to and from your colleagues.
You will have an excellent understanding of be currently successful in meeting the needs and demands of working with the general public whilst remaining calm under pressure. These talents will be clearly demonstrated in your application.
Previous NHS administrative and customer care experience within a hospital environment is a distinct advantage, however experience in a customer facing role within another NHS or public sector service area may suffice. The ward activity is fast paced so a flexible approach and an ability to multi-task is key as you may be required to assist in cross-covering more than one ward at a time.
You will be well-organised with excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess a polite and helpful telephone manner. You should be computer proficient with experience of the Microsoft Suite of applications including Excel (in particular), Outlook, Word and you will hold EDCL or MOST certification (or equivalent). You should be educated to GCSE level including an A-C grade in English and Maths and have a great eye for detail as your application form will attest and which will be assessed during the shortlisting process so you should quality check before submission.
This role is essential in ensuring our patients have a positive experience throughout their stay. Experience of using PIMS ADT (Admissions\Discharges\Transfers) and\or Outpatients and Sunrise EPR is advantageous but not essential as training is given.

Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE level A-C grade including English and Maths or NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration
- ECDL or MOST or proven equivalent experience in Microsoft suite of applications
Desirable criteria
- NVQ level 3 in Business Administration or Customer Services
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Administrative experience within the NHS or other public sector service dealing with the general public
- Reception or Customer Care experience dealing with the general public
- Ability to work in a flexible atmosphere without close supervision
Communication & Relationship skills

- Excellent written skills & strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal communication skills combined with an effective and good telephone manner
- Team Player with the ability to interact with internal and external staff
