This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS clearance and as a result, you will be required to pay the associated fee of £38.00. This fee will be deducted from your second month's salary.
This vacancy will close on 22nd May 2022

Person specification

Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • 1. MSc in Clinical Audiology or equivalent knowledge/expertise in field 2. Certificate of Audiological Competence, (CAC) or equivalent post graduate experience 3. Registered to practice as an Audiologist/Clinical Scientist with either Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) or registration Council for Clinical Physiologists
Desirable criteria
  • 1. Doctorate/ PhD in Audiology or related field 2. Sign Language: stage 1 3. Counselling/coaching qualification (basic) 4. Membership of BAA, BSA 5. Training with auditory implants
Experience
Essential criteria
  • . Extensive experience in the relevant clinical area and evidence of clinical competency with complex patient caseload.
Desirable criteria
  • . Leadership experience, including record of successful supervision and training 2. Evidence of autonomous and unsupervised working 3. Working with auditory implants
Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • 1. Advanced skills in behavioural testing of full patient age-range. 2. Advanced skills in performing and interpreting physiological measures (SRT; ESRT; NRT; ECochG; ABR; ASSR). 3. Computer-literate, with good keyboard skills. 4. Ability to extract clinical information from and communicate complex technical explanations to, deaf and deafened persons, including carers. 5. Ability to work with adults with profound, sometimes multiple, disabilities, who exhibit challenging behaviour, sometimes highly emotive or aggressive. 6. Ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex technical data whilst under pressure (e.g. .in the operating theatre; communicating with deaf person) 7. Advanced research skills and evidence of an active published research niche. 8. Able to undertake occasional moderate physical tasks transporting delicate expensive diagnostic equipment to Theatre and elsewhere
Skills
Essential criteria
  • 1. Strong ability to work effectively within a multi- disciplinary team and assume leadership responsibilities. 2. Highly developed interpersonal skills- including ability to interact sensitively with emotionally vulnerable patients and their families. 3. Excellent prioritisation, organisational and problem-solving skills. 4. Ability to work calmly and logically whilst under pressure from a busy and varied case-load, with frequent interruptions
Desirable criteria
  • 1. Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
