Job Description
Detailed job description and main responsibilities Responsible to perform venepuncture on patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting, preparing patients for venepuncture, ensuring they are given the opportunity to discuss their concerns and individual needs
Observe and report any side effects or untoward incidents which may result of the venepuncture procedure relating to the patient or the Phlebotomist
Adhere to all trust policies in relation to taking bloods samples from patients ensuring you maintain a high standard of service and patient care at all times
Treat all with dignity and respect whilst promoting a safe clinical environment for all patients, visitors, and staff
You must be aware of all hospital policies and procedures and collaborate with other health care professional to ensure that these are observed
Recognize own limitations and seek assistance and advise when required
Must have at least 1 years experience of Venepuncture

- GCSE Maths and English
Knowledge Essential criteria
- Knowledge of a healthcare setting and background
Experience Essential criteria
- At least one years experience of taking blood samples in a clinical setting
Skills Essential criteria
- Basic IT skills
- Able to provide and receive information, and relay test results to clinicians and other staff
- Able to prepare specimens for diagnostic testing
