Role Overview

The Angiography Anaesthetic Practitioner will plan and implement overall standard operational policies and procedures and assist in extending the services provided with Angiography. In addition to its remit, the Anaesthetic Practitioner in Angiography should provide specialist clinical knowledge and practise skills in a broad range of cardiac, radiology and vascular anaesthetic related procedures through induction, maintenance, and reversal of anaesthesia. There will be an expectation that as a specialised practitioner in anaesthesia with focus in cardiology, when necessary, you could assist in the role of scrub, circulatory and recovery practitioner with conjunction with our nursing team.

What you’ll do:

• Demonstrate an understanding of the management and organisation of the anaesthetic/recovery areas, and how this is related to the rest of the angiography functions.

• The ODP will need to display a knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the nervous, respiratory and cardiovascular systems as applied to anaesthesia.

• The Anaesthetic Practitioner in Angiography will identify and classify the drugs used in anaesthesia. Be able to explain their effects on the various systems of the body.

• Maintain adequate quantities of necessary drugs and follow correct procedure for their storage, security, recording and administration. Be responsible for checking of controlled drugs as per policy.

• The Anaesthetic Practitioner in Angiography will know the use of specialised items of anaesthetic equipment and be able to demonstrate their use and application

What you’ll bring:

• You must hold a relevant Anaesthetic Practitioner qualification (HCPC / ADULT RGN)

• Post-registration experience within Anaesthetics and Angiography

• Highly developed specialist knowledge acquired through training in Cathlab environment

• The expertise acquired through in-depth experience - Knowledge and experience of advanced and highly specialist procedures developed through accredited courses.
