The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) is looking for enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Anaesthetic Practitioners to join our team. This is an exciting time to join a team working at the forefront of cutting-edge healthcare.

You will be part of an exceptional team of medical professionals, who pride themselves on a culture of developing, educating and stimulating colleagues to excel in their professional fields and careers. We aim to develop the skills and knowledge of our teams to be the very best they can be.

The successful candidates will take part in a bespoke Band 6 fast-path Development Programme to develop competencies, experience and confidence to assist you in progressing to a more senior role. At the end of successfully completing the 6-12 month programme, you will be offered an opportunity to apply for a senior Band 6 practitioner role within the team.

The NHNN Theatre Department provides a comprehensive neurosurgical service covering the full range of neurosurgical patients including all cranial, simple and complex spinal conditions. It specialises in surgery for epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. There is an excellent team of radiologists and vascular neurologists performing interventional procedures. The theatre department consists of 6 theatres, plus Interventional Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Angio suite. The recovery area has 9 beds. The theatre is open Monday-Friday, and nights and weekend shifts are covered by on-call rota which you will be part of. The successful candidate is expected to work on all of these shifts.

The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and an ability to put their patients at the centre of care, demonstrating kindness and patience. A desire to learn is essential and will see you excelling in your field.

In turn, we will offer you the ability to advance your skills and aim to provide you with a high standard of training in the clinical area and through our practice development team and from Southbank and City higher education institutions. This is an opportunity to work in a Trust with UK's most advanced clinical teaching facility. The Education Centre's Learning Hospital provides opportunities for healthcare professionals at every level to learn to enhance and optimize their clinical skills and medical knowledge through experiential learning. The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery is a major international Centre for Neuroscience training and research. Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register


Desirable criteria
  • Relevant Teaching course
  • NVQ assessor


Experience

  • Up to 6 months post-registration
  • Passed Foundation gateway Level
