Job Description

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will assist the Care Group Patient Safety manager and team in all areas of patient safety and quality including:

  • Liaising with care group leaders and managers to support the delivery of the Care Group patient safety and quality framework.
  • Assisting the PS& Q team to ensure identified standards are achieved.
  • Assisting in investigations, highlighting recommendations and the monitoring of action plans.
  • Supporting the Care Group in continual improvement of practice.
  • Proactively gathering evidence of the CQC, audits and reporting.
  • Supporting the PS&Q team in the identification & management of risks to the quality of care.
  • Being involved in the identification of learning from good practice/poor practice and sharing as relevant.
  • Support the PS& Q team to provide feedback and practical (hands-on) support to teams and individual staff regarding local systems to enhance understanding and performance. E.g. Datix, Person Centred Care Planning, audits, serious incidents and complaints.
  • Supporting the PS& Q team to completing reports/providing information regarding quality, service improvement & compliance.
  • Assisting in the planning, conducting, analysis and report writing e.g. Audits and service evaluations.
  • Using results to explore any areas requiring improvement in order to support the devising, implementation and monitoring of action plans (e.g. serious incident, complaint, CQC inspection, Triangle of Care).
  • To carry out such other duties as the Patient Safety and Quality Manager may reasonably request.
  • Support the PS& Q team to devising and delivering a range of training to patients, carers and/or staff.
  • Assisting the communication with the relevant stakeholders including service users and carers.
  • Assisting with the completion and evaluation of quality improvement project.
  • Assisting in the review/update of local and Care Group policies.

Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteria
  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent
  • GCSE Maths or equivalent
  • GCSE English or equivalent

Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Business qualification or equivalent


SkillsEssential criteria
  • Advanced Microsoft excel
  • Advanced Microsoft work
  • Advanced Microsoft outlook

Desirable criteria
  • Powerpoint experience
