This post ideal for practitioners who enjoy intensive, long term therapeutic work and want regular supervision and team reflective practice to nurture their development as a clinician. You will receive ongoing group clinical supervision with the team, an externally facilitated Process Group as well as professional / clinical support from the Consultant Psychotherapist and Clinical Lead for the specialist PD service.

You will be working within a multi-disciplinary service which includes Psychotherapists, Art Therapist, Group Analyst, Drama Therapist and Clinical Psychologist offering exciting opportunities for creative work. The Trust has a second therapeutic community in Maidstone and there will be opportunities for both teams to come together to share learning experiences and work together on service developments.

Main duties of the job

Provide specialist assessment of adults , utilising information from a broad range of structured psychometric and semi-structured clinical methodologies and integrating it into a psychological formulation of the client and the psychosocial environment, drawing on a range of psychological theoretical perspectives.

Formulate and implement plans for specialist treatment or management of client's mental health problems with a particular reference to an understanding of Therapeutic Communities.

Contribute specialist advice to the multi-disciplinary formulation of appropriate therapeutic approaches or intervention plans.

Undertake psychologically based risk assessment and risk management for relevant clients and provide advice on the psychological aspects of risk to the multi-disciplinary team.

Exercise autonomous professional judgement and responsibility for the psychological management of clients on own caseload.

Interact with service users who may present with challenging behaviour or in states of high arousal on a daily basis.

Engage in both structured activities and non-structured time with service users in the context of the therapeutic community model.

Develop and maintain good communication links with the NHS, Social Services, voluntary services and other agencies working in the area of Adult Mental Health.

Maintain a high standard of clinical record keeping in line with standard operating procedures and Trust policy.

Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteria
  • •Post-graduate doctorate in clinical/counselling psychology (or its equivalent) OR \uf0a7Specialist post graduate training to Masters Level or equivalent in psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy or Group Analysis
  • Professional registration with UKCP, BPC or BPS
  • Good honours degree

Desirable criteria
  • Relevant specialist training e.g. in relation to PD, group therapy,, trauma
  • Clinical supervision qualification
  • MBT
