Our community healthcare teams inadults andchildren's servicesare employed by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and deployed to us, linking closely with our colleagues in Manchester Local Care Organisation. Our teams work as one and together we will make a massive difference to the health of people in Trafford.

The Community Neuro-Rehabilitation Team is a well established multidisciplinary team with extensive skills and knowledge. It comprises of two pathway teams, one treating complex neuro conditions and one treating stroke. It comprises of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapist, specialist nurses (stroke, complex neuro and parkinson's disease), dietitians, neuropsychologist, therapy technician and support worker.



Role Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity for an occupational therapist who would like to further develop their neurological clinical skills and experience in a community setting.

The team is based inSale and provides specialist rehabilitation programmes in patient's homes, clinics and outpatient facilities across the borough of Trafford.

You would have the opportunity to develop skills in normal movement, upper limb rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation, specialist seating and positioning, equipment provision, fatigue management, cognitive assessment and treatment under the guidance of senior occupational therapists.

We have a supportive supervision structure, in-service training programme, staff well being initiatives, profession specific OT meetings and a culture of sharing skills across all disciplines.

Key Responsibilities of the Post:
  • To efficiently manage a caseload of patients, using effective time management skills.
  • To undertake an holistic assessment of neurological patients of vision, sensation, praxis, cognition, normal movement, posture, perception, psychological wellbeing with guidance and education from senior staff
  • To formulate individual management and evidence based treatment programmes using a range of treatment skills with guidance and education from senior staff
  • To undertake the continuous assessment and evaluation of treatment programmes and goals, to ensure timely discharge.
  • To work closely with other MDT members to provide high quality, integrated intervention


    Main Requirements of the Person Specification:

    • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
      HCPC Registration
      •Post graduate experience of working as an Occupational Therapist within neurological practice
      •Access to a means of mobility to enable working across the Trafford footprint

    This role requires the postholder to undertake duties within a care home setting. In accordance with the Coronavirus Act 2020, prior to the take up of this position. The successful applicant will be required to provide evidence they have received two doses of an authorised vaccine , or provide evidence of medical exemption in accordance with the Covid 19 Regulations.
