Job Description

Deputy Pathology Manager + Quality Coordinator | Band 7 depending on experience | Nottingham | Full Time |

Spire Nottingham have a fantastic opportunity for a Deputy Pathology Manager + Quality Coordinator to manage and develop the services within their specialised area expertise of the pathology service, and across a range of services provided by the laboratory.

This role will take the lead role in the local implementation of the pathology quality management system, in accordance with CPA/ISO 15189 requirements and corporate recommendations. You will also liaise with the Laboratory Consultant and the Pathology Manager, to ensure the provision of the high quality service in an efficient and cost effective manner.

Duties and responsibilities:

To ensure that standards of patient care are consistently maintained at all times in accordance with agreed operational policies and procedures. Working to maintain and enhance the customer service and satisfaction of service users. To promote and safeguard the well-being and interests of all patients
  • Develop practice including investigation and reporting, within your areas of specialist expertise.
  • Analyse, interpret and report information and knowledge related to ideas and concepts.
  • Develop and evaluate the movement of laboratory specimens and blood.
  • Assist with research and development.
  • Develop practice in the application of technology for measuring and monitoring pathology investigations, within your specialist area of expertise.
  • Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information.
  • Develop own knowledge and skills and that of others.
  • Promotes best practice in health and safety and security.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing services.
  • Lead others in the quality improvement of pathology services.
  • Lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practices
  • Assist the Pathology Manager in maintaining and supporting the effective use of physical and financial resources
  • Support the Pathology Manager by undertaking human resource activities for the pathology team

Who we're looking for:
  • Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent
  • HCPC Registration no restrictions
  • Experience in blood transfusion, haematology or biochemistry
  • Experience of MHRA and UKAS inspections.
  • Need to live within 40 minutes' drive of the hospital for on call purposes 1 every 6 weeks.
