Join us as a Diagnostic Imaging Manager in our Grosvenor Hospital, Chester with an exciting opportunity to take the lead and develop our Diagnostic Imaging Department to be the best it can be, and play your part in building a healthier nation.

Our Nuffield Health Grosvenor Hospital in Chester has:

26 inpatient ensuite rooms

A day case suite offering cataract surgery, minor operations, endoscopy procedures and pain management treatment.

9 consultation rooms

2 state of the art operating theatres

An on-site gym and physiotherapy service

A diagnostic imaging department including MRI, ultrasound, mammography & general X-ray and a visiting mobile CT service.

The Role:

You will be supporting a number of clinical specialties including, Orthopaedics / MSK; General Surgery; Oncology; Ophthalmology, cosmetic surgery and weight loss surgery (via a partner).

You will also support the Hospital Senior Management Team to deliver high quality, clinically effective patient care through efficient management of staff and resources. We welcome you to actively contribute to the development of the Diagnostic Imaging service and to the hospital strategy as part of the Heads of Department team, while building strong relationships with your colleagues and the consultants.

Key Responsibilities:

The Diagnostic Imaging Manager will:

Ensure that high quality, responsive Diagnostic Imaging services are delivered to meet the needs of all customers and the business

Be responsible for effective and regulatory compliant Radiation Safety Management in the department

Create, maintain and encourage excellent relations with all key customers including consultants and other clinical professionals and provide leadership and direction to a multi-disciplinary departmental team

Recruit and retain high calibre staff within the department maintaining a staff complement which demonstrably ensures optimum patient care and safety while meeting the business needs

Implement, maintain and oversee a comprehensive Clinical Governance programme including the maintenance of clinical standards and implementation of clinical audit

Ensure departmental compliance with policies, standards and procedures

Develop and maintain cooperative, professional relationships with Radiologists ensuring clinical expertise matches the specialties of the Hospital and referring clinician needs

Work constructively and cohesively with the central Diagnostic Imaging Senior Leadership Team

Participate in the clinical workload of the department in a relevant modality


Degree (or equivalent) in Diagnostic Radiography

Supervisory experience within a multi-modality imaging department

A natural leader who is also a team player

IT familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Ability to lead, motivate, support and develop employees to maximise contribution to business goals and objectives

A confident decision maker who can make sound business decisions

Ability to analyse, interpret and make recommendations on data specific to the hospital in order to identify business development opportunities, change current practice, monitor and influence performance

Knowledge and experience of the healthcare service sector and the systems, processes and regulations used.

Strategic awareness with an ability to understand the commercial perspective of healthcare delivery

Diplomacy skills to enhance client, customer and supplier relations

Salary - Up to £55K per annum (dependant on experience)

Contract Type - Permanent

Weekly Hours - 37.5
