Team Lead Occupational Therapist - Haematology

Permanent Band 7

With the imminent move of Haematology services to the newly built state of the art Grafton Way Building, UCLH is due to become the largest blood diseases treatment centre in Europe. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Adult Haematology Therapies Team for a Band 7 Team Lead Occupational Therapist. We are looking for someone enthusiastic and motivated who has relevant clinical experience to deliver and develop the Haematology inpatient Occupational Therapy service at UCLH.

The post holder will be responsible for jointly leading the inpatient Cancer Therapies team to provide a high level service to all patients admitted under Haematology. They will work closely with the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist in Haematology, and alongside the therapists working within Oncology. The successful candidate will be expected to carry a varied caseload of Haematology patients whilst also supporting the therapists within this complex specialty. This will involve working effectively within the multi-disciplinary team, leading on complex discharge planning and the management of patients towards end of life.

The post-holder will be integrated into the Acute Therapy Service within UCLH and supported professionally to develop services at the new building. Clinically, support will be provided by the Clinical Lead Therapists at UCH and from the MDT.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic and motivated Occupational Therapist who can provide decisive and effective therapy input and can demonstrate leadership qualities, high level communication skills and a flexible approach when working under pressure. Applicants will need experience of working at Band 6 level within cancer services, previous Haematology experience would be valuable.
