Job Description

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
A) Clinical:
To allocate approximately 50% of time to clinical work to include the delivery of psychological interventions.
To provide a screening service for those in acute distress who need rapid access to secondary care
To provide a fast response community mental health service, LIFT Model, under supervision, to patients referred by the General Practitioners at the nominated surgery(ies) or institutions.
To act as a senior clinician which may include line management, supervision and liaison with a group of surgeries, practice managers and GPs.
To support and supervise assistants, LI workers and other staff in those surgeries as discussed with the Head of Service.
To run psycho-education courses as necessary
To gather together and organise information about opportunities and resources in the local area which may be of benefit to clients referred to the service (e.g. voluntary and community organisations, educational and recreational opportunities).
To make follow up calls.
B) Professional:
To participate in the LIFT Psychology Service business and professional meetings as required.
To be aware of and comply with all policies, procedures and directives of the Department, Service and Trust.
To maintain and further develop high standards of psychology practice through cooperative work with other counsellors and psychologists and involvement in professional audit. To attend training and supervision as required.
To comply with the British Psychology Society's code of conduct (or appropriate professional body) as well as procedures and government legislation as it applies to the service.
C) Clinical Governance:
To support the Head of LIFT Psychology in the development and implementation of effective Clinical Governance across the Psychology Service.
To oversee and participate in multidisciplinary audit in the service.
To promote the use of effective interventions in the service.

To participate in Clinical Governance processes in the service and in the profession.
D) General:
To participate in liaison meetings with GPs and other members of the Primary Care Health Teams as appropriate.
To meet with the link worker from the Primary care liaison team.
To train other staff as appropriate.
To participate in audit and personal review activity as required.
To enter data on surgery computer and Iaptus.
To compile and return statistics and activity levels every month.
To undertake mandatory and in-house training and undertake such other training as might be required to maintain an appropriate level of expertise.
To participate in individual and peer supervision both process and case
management.
To participate in the research activities of the service, where required.
To be aware of and comply with all policies, procedures and directions of the department, service and Trust.
To contribute to the running and development of the service as agreed with the Head of Service
E) Key Working Relationships:
Staff in LIFT Psychology.
GPs and primary care teams.
Representatives and users of voluntary groups.
Secondary Care Teams including PCLS and AMH Psychology staff.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • Full accreditation with BPS and HPC or Full accreditation with BABCP, BACP or UKCP or Core Mental Health profession with HPC registration


Experience
Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience of working in primary care setting.
