Job Description

Senior Clinical Fellow in Inherited Cardiac Conditions with Obstetric Cardiology (Locally Employed Doctor)

Applications are welcomed from cardiologists approaching the end of training who wish to gain supervised, and supported, post CCT experience in Inherited Cardiac Conditions as a Senior Fellow within the Manchester Heart Institute.

The post will be based at Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), a major teaching hospital situated next to the campus of Manchester Medical School and Manchester University. MRI provides in-patient and out-patient services for an ICC patient population >2000 identified predominantly from the Greater Manchester area as part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).

The ICC service is rapidly expanding and forward-thinking, providing all aspects of contemporary management, through themed out-patient clinics (maternity medicine, channelopathy, cardiomyopathy (HCM, DCM and other), aortopathy, Turners, and sports) with in-clinic diagnostics. Specialist in-reach for acute admissions, including the labour ward is part of the role. We provide an integrated genetics service, and a dedicated cross-site ICC MDT. We have close links to the complex devices service, and cross-sectional imaging at MRI. All the ICC consultants hold academic or honorary academic positions and active engagement with research studies is encouraged.

The post will involve participation in the 1:12 Cardiology Registrar on-call rota for which an on-call supplement is applied to the basic salary.
