Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • • Education at degree level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience • Post graduate certificate, or, evidence of specific job related CPD in highly specialised transport planning work and project management • Project management qualifications (e.g. Prince II)
Desirable criteria
  • • Record of continuous development over a broad range of transport planning, carbon reduction, lifecycle assessment compliance, legislation updates, management policies, and others aspect of the sustainability agenda
Experience
Essential criteria
  • • Previous management experience in both strategic and operational aspects of corporate and sustainable travel and transport developments on a campus, or similar large estate setting, where a proven track record can be demonstrated in relation to optimising smarter travel and environmental sustainability outputs. • Proven track record in people management • Information Analysis & Management • Experience of delivery projects in a large organisation or campus setting • Experience of contract and subcontract management with a number of external organisations • Experience of presenting complex/contentious arguments where behaviour change is desired outcome
Desirable criteria
  • • Working knowledge of the healthcare and scientific industries • Experience of managing independent assessors/ and delivering to specified standards • Evidence of negotiation and conflict resolution within an operational multi-partner campus environment
Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • • A specialist and/or practical working knowledge of sustainable transport. This should incorporate each of the following: • Optimisation of sustainable travel modal splits. Understanding and planning strategic travel approaches, understanding culture and travel options • Project management skills • Life-cycle assessment of Estates roads, pathways, website and any other sustainability considerations • Behaviour change/'nudge' methodologies, cultural changes, influencing changes to behaviours. • Carbon literacy, understanding carbon footprint implications and legislation. • Quantitative and qualitative surveys, working with external contractors to agree methodology. • Evidence of managing and chairing project meetings with wide range of internal and external partners. • Benefits realisation; establishing return on investment
Desirable criteria
  • • On-line Journey Planning tools and applications • Personalised travel planning, the 'Journey Planner' working with external contractors and Local Authority
Skills
Essential criteria
  • • Financial management experience (particularly related to projects, cash flow management and tendering processes) • Time-management skills • Experienced Team Leader and ability to manage contractors • Self-starter & ability to work autonomously • Ability to understand, interpret and analyse complex information and policy • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and deliver outcomes • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels, dealing with external stakeholders, negotiating skills essential for dealing with objective stakeholders. • Excellent written and presentation skills • Adaptable and flexible attitude to work • Microsoft Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint etc.
