Job Description

We are looking to recruit 2 Specialist Occupational Therapists for our Neurological Rehabilitation Unit at Trafford General Hospital. We currently have vacancies for a full time static Band 6 Occupational Therapist and a full time B6 OT on a 12-month fixed term contract. (Secondments may be considered for this post, however only if full approval has been agreed by current line management pre application.)

The post will require the successful applicant to work as part of the multidisciplinary team on the Intermediate Neurorehabilitation Unit to deliver neurological rehabilitation, support with discharges and complex case management.

This is an exciting opportunity for an occupational therapist with experience in managing a complex neurological caseload, who would like to further develop their specialist clinical skills and experience in a community setting, with additional opportunities to be involved in service development.

You will have experience of rehabilitation and working with patients with neurological diagnoses. This would include assessment and treatment of cognitive and physical impairment across a range of presentations.

You would have the opportunity to consolidate your skills in splinting, normal movement, upper limb rehabilitation, spasticity management, specialist seating and positioning, equipment provision, fatigue management, cognitive assessment and treatment.

We have a supportive supervision structure, in-service training programme, staff well bring initiatives, profession specific OT meetings and a culture of sharing skills across all disciplines.

The neurorehabilitation therapy team is ward based and made up of OT's, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Neuropsychologists and Rehabilitation Assistants who work closely with nursing and medical colleagues to deliver excellent neurological rehabilitation.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £26.85(standard disclosure) or £43.85 (enhanced disclosure) which will be deducted from salary, in the first 3 months of employment. If you wish to withdraw once a DBS application has commenced you will be still liable for payment.
