Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 paediatric dietitian to join our small, friendly, and dynamic community team.

Our mission statement is "collaborating with families to deliver evidence-based nutritional care plans that prioritise the wellbeing of every child in our care". Based within the special needs school and community nursing team, we are responsible for providing dietetic support to infants and children who have complex health conditions and/or learning disabilities and whorequire tube feeding.

We work closely with a broad multidisciplinary team including paediatricians, children's community nurses, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, health visitors, social workers and we have good links with the hospital dietitians at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and the surrounding community teams. We are supported by a full-time dietetic assistant.

We are looking for an enthusiastic dietitian who will develop and use their knowledge and experience to educate and support children, young people and their caregivers with enteral feeding and dietary management at home. The role includes responsibility for providing specialist outpatient clinics within the 12 specialist schools across Manchester, attending feeding and swallowing clinics, attending MDT meetings, and carrying out home visits. The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of their caseload and will contribute to and lead on pieces of service development, audit, teaching, policy writing and supervision of junior team members and students. We actively encourage opportunities for continuing professional development.

This post would ideally suit a dietitian with post-registration experience (preferably including paediatrics) who enjoys working autonomously as well as within a team, and who is looking for an opportunity to be a valued member of a forward-thinking and supportive dietetic service.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £26.85(standard disclosure) or £43.85 (enhanced disclosure) which will be deducted from salary, in the first 3 months of employment. If you wish to withdraw once a DBS application has commenced you will be still liable for payment.
