Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our dental laboratories for an experienced and forward thinking Senior Orthodontic Technician (Band 6) to join our team at the University Dental Hospital of Manchester.
Applications are invited from dental technicians who are fully registered with the GDC and hold recognised qualification(s) plus experience, whether that be in a commercial or hospital laboratory.
We are seeking an innovative, talented and self-motivated individual to join our extended, multi-disciplinary dental team. The successful candidate will have good knowledge and practical experience of fixed and removeable orthodontic appliances. There is also a shared responsibility to support the Oral surgery and Paediatric teams within the laboratory, when needed.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
  • Construction of a wide range of orthodontic appliances which will be advanced and complex.
  • Develop skills in highly specialised work which may be innovative.
  • Construction of a variety of appliances and restorations to support the Oral Surgery and Paediatric services - training will be provided in house as required.
  • Must have sufficient post-qualification Orthodontic experience to be able to work independently and take responsibility towards furthering the training of other staff within the service.
  • Work effectively as part of team demonstrating attention to detail, good organisational skills and compliance with laboratory regulations and protocols.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £26.85(standard disclosure) or £43.85 (enhanced disclosure) which will be deducted from salary, in the first 3 months of employment. If you wish to withdraw once a DBS application has commenced you will be still liable for payment.
